THE ARPA PROJECT
Helping Communities Navigate the American Rescue Plan Act
Through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), the federal government has once again earmarked extensive relief funds for state, local, and tribal governments to aid with the COVID-19 recovery efforts. ARPA gives governmental entities greater flexibility to address current acute needs, i.e., setting up programs for vulnerable residents and small businesses, enhancing testing and vaccination efforts, and recovering lost revenue. Beyond these areas, it also allows governments to consider their longer-term needs strategically. Due to changes in the funding allocation methodology, many governmental entities will become direct recipients of pandemic-related federal funds for the first time.
Drawing from our experience assisting with previous COVID-19 relief funding, we have developed strategies to help local governments effectively implement ARPA funding while also addressing compliance requirements.
Implement a Sound Funding Application Process
Monitor with Strong Compliance Management and Reporting Programs
Investigate and Leverage Other Funding Sources
Assess Your Current and Future Needs
Many communities and local governments are struggling to wrap their arms around the complexity of the resources available to them through ARPA and how best to implement those resources while still maintaining compliance with the expenditure limitations and detailed reporting required by the federal government. Our team would be happy to discuss your unique situation to assist your community in responding to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 and preparing for the future.
